The Blueprint to Urban Agriculture (Ag) was conceived in the spring of 2016 at the Cuyahoga Soil & Water Conservation District (CSWCD) Annual Local Working Group meeting.  At this meeting, it was determined that agricultural producers in Cleveland still need considerate help with everything from getting started to sales to finding insurance.

Coincidentally shortly after this meeting, the National Association of Conservation Districts announced a request for proposals for all things urban agricultural.  It was a eureka moment.  The CSWCD conceptualized a one-stop shop for Cleveland’s Ag producers to answer all of their questions.  This was the seed that sprouted into the Blueprint to Urban Agriculture.  Funding for the Blueprint to Urban Agriculture ultimately came from the USDA's Natural Resources Conservation Service and distributed via the National Association of Conservation Districts. CSWCD was one of 43 conservation districts awarded this honor.

The Blueprint's intended audience is urban farmers, though gardeners and community gardeners will find the information beneficial.
